Father's Day 2009 with the Grandchildren
Last summer we took a trip...my first trip to Yellowstone National Park and Jackson Hole Wyoming. Our good friends Brad & Sue were our tour guides (they have been many times) they knew right where to take us to. It was so amazing, I love so much to see new places and experience the beauty. We lucked out and got to stay in the "Old Faithful Inn" Stan and Brad took lots of pictures for me to paint, can't wait. We saw a moose, bears, a silver fox and of course...buffalo.

Happy Fathers Day Stan

Tomorrow is Father's day and I wanted to write a tribute to my husband, whom I might add is the most wonderful Father in the world. He has spent his whole life trying to provide both temporally and spirtually for his children and they love him to the moon! Today Paije surprised her Dad and took him in for a pedicure and foot massage, he was in heaven. And tomorrow we will cook him a feast, a well deserved feast!. Because of this loving husband and his dedication to being a great Father we really are blessed with the most wonderful children and grandchildren (11 soon to be 13). He has taken the time to show each of the kids individually how much they mean to him. How lucky I was all those years ago (almost 35) to find this man who would be such a wonderful Father. This Fathers Day Stan, I want to tell you that I love you, and thank you for a most wonderful life!
love,
Carla

Bellevue Scrapbooking Trade Show

On Friday Stan,Wendi(Bo's wife)Parri and myself headed to Bellevue for the Creating Keepsakes Scrapbooking Tradeshow. What fun...and I don't even scrapbook! Stan's sister Tami has designed the most unusual, creative idea in scrapbooking that I have to let everyone know about it. It is called photo mosaic and so easy to do. When you are finished you have something worthy to frame. Tami and her husband Kevin travel all over the United States teaching and selling at these trade shows, and they just happened to schedule one for Seattle...It was so fun to spend time with them. For any one interested in their product the website is: tamipotter.com . Check it out.

Halloween Tea Party 2008

On Saturday October 25th I had a tea party with my granddaughters! Bree who is now 13 has become my assistant (trust me, I need one). I try to do a tea party twice a year. The girls really look forward to this, they came dressed in costumes ready for a fun time. There favorite part of the tea party is...pouring the tea (really just punch). They pour and drink and pour and drink! They decorated pumpkins and watched "Casper the Ghost", it's been a few...o.k.about 40 years since I watched Casper, the girls said it wasn't very scary! When it is time to go they get a treat basket filled with goodies and I send them home full of sugar, until that is...the next tea party! This year my Mom came, it was great fun for them to have Great Grandma Miller attend there party.

Taking Art Lessons from a Master!

In June(2008) I got to live a dream!!! Not only did I get to meet the famous Artist Charles Reid, but I got to take a workshop and work one on one with a master. It was amazing that I was able to get into the workshop many had been on a waiting list for two years. He only comes to Seattle about every 4 years. It was surprising that they kept the workshop small...about 18. And to have him give personal instruction was beyond words. His wife Judith who always accompanies him was a bright spot in each day. I learned alot about doing portraits. He is considered a master in the figure and portrait. Oh..I forgot to mention his main medium is of course...Watercolor! I am excited to work on faces. The pictures here are photos I took while Charles Reid was painting, the model is named Saddutz he is of Alaskan heritage, he works at the "Center for Wooden Boats" in Seattle, teaching old style canoe building.
